FlatEarthDoctrine Nathan Roberts Explanation Of Luke 3:3-6 Debunked

This website exposes the flat earth deception and proves that the earth is globe shaped.

Nathan Roberts of FlatEarthDoctrine posted this video called ‘#5: Bible Says Flat Earth, prove me wrong’

At about the 30 minute mark, Nathan Roberts cites Luke 3:3-6, and he proclaims that it’s declaring that the earth is flat.

“And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;  And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”

The verses are obviously not talking about real paths, valleys and mountains; which become flat.  It’s proclaiming that John the Baptist came to pave the way for Messiah, to preach repentance, so that the Jews were prepared when the promised Messiah appeared.

It’s the fulfillment of the prophecy in Isaiah 40:3-5:

“The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.  Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”

Messiah affirmed that John the Baptist prepared the way,

“But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.” Matthew 11:9-10

Here is what Adam Clarke’s Commentary on the Bible says:

Luke 3:4 Prepare ye the way – It was customary for kings, when on journeys, to send a certain class of the people two or three days before them, to command the inhabitants to clear the ways. A very necessary precaution where there are no public roads.

Luke 3:5 Every they shall be filled – All hindrances shall be taken out of the way: a quotation from the Greek version of Isaiah 40:4, containing an allusion to the preparations made in rough countries to facilitate the march of mighty kings and conquerors.

Yet Nathan Roberts is so biased in his perspective, that he proclaims that it’s declaring that the physical earth is flat!

And the irony is that he accuses me of twisting Scripture! 😛

This just shows how programmed flat earthers are, that they’re unable to see the proper context of a verse, and they twist verses to make them seem like they are declaring that the earth is flat.

In discussions with them, even when you give absolute proof that a verse is not declaring that the earth is flat; they seem unable to concede the point.

Messiah’s reference to Esaias applies today, to people who believe that the earth is flat:

“And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:” Matthew 13:14
